Edvards Grūbe
1935 - 2022
He received his professional education in the Janis Rozentals Riga Art High School and in the Painting Department of the Latvian Art Academy (1961 – 1965). He taught painting at the Latvian Art Academy (1964 – 1971) and at its Pedagogical Department (1971 – 1973), was Head of the Pedagogical Department (1973 – 1979). He was professor at the Painting Department of the Latvian Art Academy (1979 – 1997) and since 1998, the professor Emeritus. He has been contributing to exhibitions since 1961. His artworks can be found in the collections of the National Art Museum of Latvia, the Latvian Artists’ Union, the Bank of Latvia and Swedbank, the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, the Art Museum of Lithuania, Ludwig Museum in Cologne and private collections in Latvia and abroad. In 2008 he received the Three-Star Order, the highest national award of Latvia.
