He received professional education at the Janis Rozentāls Riga Art School (1964-1971), the Pedagogical Department of the Art Academy of Latvia (1967-1971) and the Department of Painting (971-1973) From 1974 he received a master's degree from the Art Academy of Art, in 1992, associate professor since 1994. He also studied at the I. Repin State Institute of Academic Art in St. Petersburg, the Vilnius Institute of Art and the State University of Latvia. His works are located in such public collections as the Latvian National Museum of Art, friedeman Stokart's collection in Munich, the Graphien Hus collection in Mariefred, the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, the Zimmerly Art Museum in New Jersey and elsewhere.
