Maija Dragūne

She received her professional education at the Jānis Rozentāls Riga Art School (1963), from 1964 to 1970 studied at the Graphic Department of the Art Academy of Latvia. Since 1973, member of the Artists' Union of Latvia. From 1979 to 1994 Maija Dragūne worked as an artistic editor at the publishing house "Liesma", from 1979 to 1996 she is a lecturer in drawing and composition at the Jānis Rozentāls Riga Art School. Participates in exhibitions since 1972. The author's works have been exhibited in the UK, France, Poland, Finland, Estonia, usa, Australia and other countries. The artist has held nine solo exhibitions, the largest of which was in 1995 at the Museum of Foreign Art. Her works are in the collections of the Latvian National Museum of Art, the Artists' Union of Latvia Museum, the Moscow State Tretyakov Gallery. Maija Dragūne was awarded with diplomas at the Tallinn Graphic Triennials (1983, 1987, 1989) and a silver medal at the Paris Spring Salon in 1984.
