Candleholder

14.12.2016 - 04.02.2017

May your Christmas be bright!

Starting December 14th, an exhibition dedicated to Christmas will be shown at Gallery Daugava at 10/12 Alksnāja Street, Riga. This exhibition will present the works of professional ceramists like Juta Rindina (Riga), Dainis Pundurs (Riga), Jānis Kupčs (Ventspils), Inta Medniece (Padure) and, possibly, some of the nation’s craftsmen from Latgale. The forth and also last solstice of the year is Christmas – the time when the day is the shortest and the night – the longest. When the darkness arrives, you have to spread the light, specially on Christmas, when the fight between light and dark is the most pressing. In the traditional Latvian households and folklore candles hold a great value. So, consequentially, a need for a candleholder arises.

The exhibition will also show paintings in the theme of winter and Christmas time.
