Juris Dimiters

Mr. Dimiters` Exhibition

10.06.2015 - 25.07.2015

It is often said that life is mostly comprised of theatrics, tragedy, comedy or farce and our daily experiences seem to confirm that. This is the theme of Juris Dimiters’ exhibition presented by the Gallery Daugava, Alksnāja St. 10/12, Old Riga from June 10 to July 25. Juris Dimiters, an outstanding professional stage and costume designer as well as a witty master of lights, studied stage design at the Art Academy and applied his skills and talent even at the Opera. For this exhibition his art consists of a stage on which he appears to be acting as a director and various scenes are staged. As the viewers enter the gallery the “performance” begins. Shakespearian scenes may be perceived but the full range of human emotions are considered including passion, love, betrayal, jealousy, lust for power, endless dreams and fantasies, just as in William Shakespeare’s world of plays. To present this on stage Juris Dimiters employs classical methods: irony, paradox, language of symbols and allegories as well as modern technologies. This exhibition viewing life as theater as interpreted by a professional, talented artist is a must see and welcomes its viewers.
