Murjāņi and... Even Greener than Green...

The display offers the artist’s kaleidoscope of her life observations – landscapes and scenes from surroundings of her living place, and portraits she has made while following the events in public media. „I like people very much. I take photos of them to paint them afterwards. ‘’ Landscapes of various sizes in oil technique, in their mood reminiscent of pastels with the clear colour intensity, invite viewers to join the artist in watching life. Lush and clear nature scenes with the common green colour of various shades embrace the small-size pictures portraying people whom the artist has seen in TV broadcasts. These nice portraits help us to recognize Laima Eglite’s characteristic deft brush stroke, witty intonation and kind-hearted grotesque.
Laima Eglīte: ‘’ But I don’t paint in the plein air, I am just sitting, watching and taking photos of various situations. And all that results in the compilation of this and that’’.
