The World is Everything that Exists

23.05.2015 - 01.08.2015

Artists paint the sea, land, trees, sky, places, flowers and people. In fact, they paint everything that exists, has existed or may exist in the future. They also paint dreams, thoughts, feelings and all that is visible, invisible or imagined. They may even paint something mysterious that will never be revealed. In other words, they paint the world. There are many different worlds, those of music, science, poetry, sports, etc. Everyone has his own world. But if it is depicted on canvas it becomes the world of painting. And this world is filled with light and shade, color and space.

Ludwig Wittgenstein’s quotation “The world is everything that exists” has been chosen for the title of the gallery Daugava exhibition. It is comprised of artworks by Andris Eglītis, Dace Lielā, Kaspars Zariņš, Vija Zariņa, Līga Purmale, Rudīte Dreimane, Jānis Purcens, Aigars Bikše, Dainis Pundurs, Juta Rindina, Kristīne Markus. This outstanding collection of art is expected to delight viewers in June and July.
