Aigars Bikše

Touch

22.08.2018 - 06.10.2018

The exhibition “TOUCH” displays Aigars Bikše’s sculptures executed in the traditional sculptural materials of bronze and wood made after his previous solo exhibition in 2015.

According to Aigars Bikše:”These are compositions in which figures of people, animals and birds are in dynamic movement. The focus of artworks is on anonymous heroes of the processes that are easily recognizable by the people of today. These situations or events appear to be endowed with a mystical esoteric meaning which rational minds tend to view as psychological or physiological reactions to the process of life.”

When asked whether the artist himself takes the emotions of his heroes seriously, Aigars Bikše replied:”I am a very distrustful man and at the same time I am also very naïve and gullible. And so are my artworks – inviting to trust and at the same time, to doubt everything.”
